Vote Ben Flint for Sheriff
Madison, IN — January 9th, 2026 — Sheriff Ben Flint is excited to announce his campaign for re-election as Sheriff of Jefferson County.
Since taking office in 2023, Sheriff Flint has focused on expanding vital programs like the Jail Chemical Addiction Program (JCAP), reducing crime rates across Jefferson County, and working with neighboring counties and state agencies, to ensure Jefferson County remains a place people want to call home. After an incredible first term, Sheriff Flint is ready to continue delivering results and serving the people of Jefferson County with dedication, integrity, and transparency.
“It’s been the honor of a lifetime to serve this community,” Sheriff Flint said. “In my first term, we’ve made great strides in reducing crime, building relationships with our youth, and working to break the cycle of addiction. But there’s more to be done. I’m committed to reducing recidivism, strengthening our community partnerships, and ensuring the safety of every resident in Jefferson County.” Entering the campaign season energized and focused, Sheriff Flint says he is ready to serve another term.
Sheriff Flint’s re-election campaign is backed by three Sheriffs from surrounding counties: Sheriff Scottie Maples – Clark County, Sheriff Brian Morton – Switzerland County, and Sheriff Rob Bradley – Ripley County.
Neighboring Ripley County Sheriff Rob Bradley said: “I can attest that Sheriff Flint approaches every challenge with fairness, sound judgment and a commitment to doing what is right –not what is easy. Jefferson County is fortunate to have a Sheriff who combines leadership, experience and vision.”
In addition to support from neighboring Sheriffs, Flint’s campaign has also gained the endorsement of Jefferson County Councilman Chris Shelton, who praised Sheriff Flint’s leadership style and community impact. “For the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as the County Council liaison to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and working directly with Sheriff Flint. He has consistently been proactive and responsive, keeping the council informed of both issues and successes. That level of communication and leadership makes a real difference for our county,” Shelton said.
Under Sheriff Flint’s leadership, Jefferson County has seen:
16% drop in theft
25% decrease in break-ins
34% reduction in drug-related crimes
44% drop in overdoses
His experience with over 19 years in law enforcement and as a U.S. Coast Guard veteran, make him the clear choice to lead the Sheriff’s Office for a 2nd term. “I’ve served Jefferson County for 15 years, and my leadership has made a difference. I know what it takes to keep our community safe.”
“Together, we can build on our success and keep our community strong.” Flint concluded. “I’m asking for the opportunity to continue serving you.”
